The most influential Vietnamese CEOs They are the leading brains who not only have influences to their businesses’ development, but also to the development of the country and the regional economies. A lot of Vietnamese businessmen have been honored in the world, namely Truong Gia Binh from FPT, the leading technology group in Vietnam, Mai Kieu Lien from the dairy producer Vinamilk, Pham Thi Viet Nga from Hau Giang Pharmacy, Pham Nhat Vuong from the real estate group Vingoup and the “Vietnamese coffee King” Dang Le Nguyen Vu from Trung Nguyen Group. In early May 2013, Truong Gia Binh, President and CEO of FPT became the first Vietnamese businessman gloried by the Japanese leading media group Nikkei and given the Regional Growth award for his outstanding contribution to the regional economic growth. This is for the first time over the last 18 years, Nikkei chooses a Vietnamese businessman for the award. Binh has been known as a brilliant businessman, who has helped FPT Group obtain the total turnover of VND25,350 billion in 2012, or over $1.2 billion, despite the economic crisis. FPT, with 15,000 workers, has been present in 14 countries all over the world. Not only succeeding with FPT, Binh has also helped develop the information technology of Vietnam. He is also the founder of the Vietnam Software Association which made debut in 2002, and the founder of the FPT University which aims to train high quality labor force for the information technology industry. Pham Nhat Vuong, now President of VinGroup, has been glorified by Forbes, which puts him at the 974th position among the richest people in the world with the total assets of $1.5 billion. The fact that a Vietnamese name is found in the list of the world’s billionaires has been hailed as a great achievement of Vietnam after 27 years of carrying out the doi moi (renovation). VinGroup, where Vuong holds 53 percent of shares, is now the biggest shareholder in 19 resort and tourism complex projects in Hanoi, HCM City, Hung Yen and Da Nang. The group had sold 7,000-8,000 apartments by the end of 2010 and early 2011. In January 2013, Hong Kong magazine Corporate Governance Asia named Mai Kieu Lien, the Vinamilk chief as the Asia’s Best CEO in the “investor relations” category. In 2012, when other businesses had to struggle hard to survive the economic crisis, Vinamilk still could take firm steps towards the development with the total turnover of VND27,300 billion for over 4 billion products sold. Lien has had big influences to the Vietnam’s dairy production industry with her efforts to modernize the dairy production process and bring the best dairy products to Vietnamese. She believes that Vietnamese businessmen would be in no way inferior to Asian the world’s businessmen, if they can do business in a fair business environment which is ruled by a clear environment. Lien was one of the two Vietnamese businesswomen recognized by Forbes as the most excellent businesswomen in Asia. The other was Pham Thi Viet Nga, Chair and CEO of Hau Giang Pharmacy JSC. The woman has turned an enterprise which was on the verge of bankruptcy, into a big company which now makes over 300 kinds of medicine. The list of the Vietnamese businessmen with the influences in the region and the world also includes Dang Le Nguyen Vu, CEO of Trung Nguyen Group.
