VND9.8 trillion to be
invested into Tan Son Nhat Airport
The
Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) plans to spend around VND9.8 trillion
(USD445.5 millon) on building Terminal 3 at Tan Son Nhat International
Airport.
This investment plan will be proposed at ACV’s annual shareholder meeting on May 4 this year.

According to ACV, the investment is expected to help Terminal 3 increase annual passenger capacity of 15 million. Besides Tan Son Nhat International Airport, this year, the corporation will prioritise the upgrade and expansion of many other airports such as Noi Bai, Cat Bi, Chu Lai and Phu Bai. ACV will spend a total VND5.8 trillion (USD263.6 million) on upgrading Phu Bai and Cat Bi airports, aiming to raise each of their annual capacity to 5 million passengers. The ACV reported that VND2.85 trillion will be pumped into infrastructure development of Chu Lai Airport; while VND2.9 trillion will be for the same work at Vinh Airport. Under the government’s recently-issued master plan on air transport development to 2020 with vision until 2030, Vietnam will strive to be among ASEAN’s top four country’s by 2030 in terms of flight volume and possess a fleet of modern aircraft. The plan includes 23 airports that would have been put into operation by 2020, including 13 international and 10 domestic. By 2030, 28 airports are expected to come into operation, including 13 international ones and 15 for domestic routes.
