Sex messages vex MobiFone subscribers

Many MobiFone subscribers are angry when they continuously receive text messages from unknown senders luring them to visit erotic websites or watch porn video clips.
A number of subscribers told Tuoi Tre that they have received up to 10 such messages per day with contents such as “7 days in love”, “Clip 18+”, “Teens will do blow job for you at massage room”, “Clip xxx: three young men having sex with a schoolgirl”, “Hot Japanese sexy queen”, and others.
Ngoc, a female employee at a company in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, told Tuoi Tre: “Recently, I received many text messages suggesting me to visit pornographic websites. There was a day when I received five or six such messages. I have made a complaint to MobiFone but the situation remains the same.”
Similarly, Cong Quang, a man in HCMC’s District 12, said he is very upset with sex messages that have caused quarrels between him and his wife for the past weeks.
“Many nights when I was sleeping, my phone received a message. My wife read it and questioned me. She suspected that I had some relationships with the senders of the messages which invited me to watch sexy clips of singer X or model Y...,” Quang said.
“I have many times called back but nobody answered. I have reported the matter to MobiFone,” he said.
Quyen, a woman in Tan Phu District said that it would be very “dangerous” when her children occasionally read messages in her phone and follow their instructions.
Disguised spams or virus
After using the links introduced in the messages, cell phone users can visit sex websites that contain not only porn clips but also games and utilities.
Therefore, sex massages may be disguised spams through which the senders want not just to offer sex clips but also want to advertise utilities and games at the same time, according to experts.
Meanwhile, some others said such sex links contain toxic viruses that can steal information of cell phone users.
Therefore, subscribers should delete such messages as soon as they receive them.
“Immediately after receiving complaints from subscribers, we re-checked our system and took measures to protect customers,” a representative of MobiPhone told Tuoi Tre.

These measures include blocking spams sent from foreign SMS operators; screening and following spams or porn messages; detecting and suspend subscribers who distribute spams or sex messages; coordinating with concerned agencies to deal with those who send spasm…” the representative said.
18 service providers suspended
After investigations, on March 12 MobiFone suspended mobile information services provided by 18 partners of the firm after discovering that they were involved in disseminating spams or sex messages.
The firm said it would upgrade its security system to effectively protect customers from being disturbed by such messages.
When receiving such spams, subscribers should report them to MobiFone’s free operator number 18001090 soon so that the firm can take measures to prevent them.
However, Ms. Thu Hong, the MobiFone representative, said it is hard to prevent all spams since a number of messages may be sent through the Internet or from overseas mobile information network.
Meanwhile, the low penalties fail to deter spam senders, Hong added.
