Newborn ejected from womb in accident; mother killed on site The body of Nguyen Thi Kim Ngoc, 27, who is killed on impact during an accident which occurred in the Mekong Delta province of An Giang on October 25 morning on her way to hospital to deliver her second child. Tuoi Tre A young woman was killed on impact in a road accident on her way to hospital to deliver her baby on Saturday morning in the Mekong Delta Province of An Giang. The newborn was flushed out of the womb right at the site and had his leg crushed. According to the provincial police, around 10am on Saturday, Nguyen Van Nam, 32, was carrying his 27-year-old wife, Nguyen Thi Kim Ngoc, on his motorbike to hospital to deliver their second child. When they were driving along the National Highway No 91 near the construction site of Rach Goi Lon Bridge in the province’s Long Xuyen City, a concrete mixer truck hit the couple from behind. Ngoc was crushed by the truck and was killed instantly. The impact also forced her unborn son out of her womb.  The infant got one of his legs crushed while his father had one of his legs seriously broken. The newborn, who is ejected from his mother's womb right at the accident site, remains in a deep coma at Ho Chi Minh City's Pediatrics Hospital 1. Tuoi Tre According to Dr. Nguyen Thanh Hung, director of Ho Chi Minh City’s Pediatrics Hospital 1 on Saturday evening, the newborn has been under intensive care since he was transferred to the hospital. Despite their efforts to save one of the baby’s legs, the doctors finally had to amputate it. By 7pm on Saturday, the baby still remained in deep coma, Hung added. Meanwhile, Nam is being treated at An Giang General Hospital. He also had one third of his right leg amputated. Ngoc’s younger sister said the couple are farmers and have financial difficulties.
