The Ministry of Information and Communications has fined
national broadcaster
The map appeared in a reality show that has
been pulled off air.
The
broadcaster, better known as VTV, suspended “Diep vu tuyet mat,” the local
version of a Dutch program called “Sabotage,” on April 4, following the
public ire over the mistake. It
is unclear how long the suspension is for.

14-episode series, a co-production by VTV and a private company, Cat Tien Sa,

4, Nguyen Quang Minh, director of Cat Tien Sa, told the media that budget
carrier Air Asia, the main sponsor of the program, had provided the map,
which was vaguely drawn without any borders between countries, causing the
mistake.
Minh added that his team had corrected the
mistake.
At noon that day Air Asia released a
statement saying the mistake had been caused by “negligence in checking
content.”
Apart from the fine over the map, VTV
has also been given another fine of VND10 million for using a wrong video in
a news program on April 2.
