Vietnamese nurses to work in Germany
QĐND
PANO - 120 Vietnameses nurses started a German language course to prepare them for further training and work in Germany on March 4th.
The Government of the Federal Republic of Germany launched this pilot project aiming at a new labour policy that allows for qualified academics and specialists from around the world to work in Germany, which has a prospering economy, but lacks the necessary qualified workforce. The Vietnamese nurses will receive a two-year special training in Germany in the field of geriatric care.

Speaking at the opening ceremony in the Hoai Duc Education Centre, the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany Jutta Frasch stated: “I would like to most warmly congratulate the participants of the training course on their efforts. You have shown your commitment towards learning a new language and receiving a new professional specialization. In Germany we need a great number of qualified personnel, not only in the field of care for elderly people. The German economy is in need of university graduates in the fields of mathematics, information technology, natural sciences and engineering, as well.”
The Ambassador thanked the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, especially the Ministry for Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA) for the support the Vietnamese authorities rendered to this project. She stressed that the employment of Vietnamese nurses in Germany supported the development of the Strategic Partnership between both countries.
“Vietnam is the first non-European country that Germany cooperates with in the field of migration of skilled labour in the health care sector”, said GIZ Deputy Country Director Andreas Schneider.
The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) is implementing the training course on behalf of the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany in collaboration with the Goethe Institute Hanoi and the Department of Overseas Labour (DOLAB) of the MOLISA. Andreas Schneider underlined that the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam actively encouraged and supported the employment mobility of health care professionals.
“The Government of Vietnam considers the dispatch of its workers for overseas employment as a socio-economic activity which has already contributed to developing the human resource, creating jobs, improving the income and enhance the workforce for the country’s modernization”, stated Vice-Minister Nguyen Thanh Hoa of the MOLISA.
