This male pig-tailed monkey appeared on March 18 and attacked several tourists.
Tourists reported that the monkey was big, bold and aggressive. It attacked and bit several travelers, including foreigners, leaving people anxious and insecure when traveling to this famous destination.
The local rangers were sent to the site on March 19 to catch the fierce monkey but they could not  until March 22, when they used an anaesthetic.
The monkey was then re-released into the primeval forest of Son Tra.
According to the Da Nang Forest Development Bureau, it is an adult male monkey, weighing 10 kg, an endangered primate species protected by law.

Pig-tailed monkeys live on Son Tra peninsula together with other species of primates like yellow monkeys, the long-tailed monkeys, red-faced monkeys, loris and red-shanked doucs.
The pig-tailed monkey community in Son Tra peninsula is small and they often live alone.
In Son Tra and other ecological tourist attractions, the monkeys often approach tourists to search for food.
According to local rangers, the monkey bit a few people who had annoyed the monkey and the animal reacted defensively under its instinctive nature.
