HCM City wants to borrow $900 million to build sewage treatment
plants
HCM City will have 12 sewage
treatment plants by 2020, up from its current two. The city wants to borrow
nearly $900 million from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to build four more
plants.
These plants will be built in the
2016-2020 period, including West Saigon Plant, with a daily capacity of
150,000 m3 and a loan of $513 million; North Saigon Plant, with a daily
capacity of 170,000 m3 and a loan of $81 million; Binh Tan, with 180,000 m3
and $225 million; and Tan Hoa-Lo Gom with 300,000 m3 and over $67 million.
Currently,
HCM City also wants to borrow over
$3 billion to develop other infrastructure, transport projects, including
$500 million to build the metro line 2 (Ben Thanh - Tham Luong), nearly $2
billion for the metro line 5 (Bay Hien intersection - Saigon Bridge), $500m
for the Ben Thanh subway station and $300 million for the municipal traffic
control center.
