Driver
arrested with 11 kilos of marijuana in central Vietnam
A drug trafficking
suspect carrying 11 kilograms of marijuana was arrested in the central
province of Ha Tinh after trying to escape a police check by running into an
officer.
Traffic police
stopped Le Manh Hung, 42, to check his papers on Wednesday.
As he began to panic, the officers demanded to check the
car, and they found bags of what was later confirmed to be marijuana.
Hung immediately started his car and hit an officer,
throwing him onto the car hood.
He then drove more than ten kilometers away before
pulling out a gun and threatening to shoot the chasing officers.
The police managed to stop his car.
Trafficking marijuana is punishable by long jail terms
and even death penalties in Vietnam.
