HBSO
presents “Mendelssohn Violin Concerto”
A concert
featuring violinist Pham Vinh and the Director of Ensemble Poliphonique de
Choisy le Roi, Maestro Laurent Boer, as well as members of the Ensemble
Polyphonique de Choisy-le-Roi will be held at Ho Chi Minh City Opera House on
October 29.
The event
will be also participated by a well-known vocal ensemble of Vietnamese
working or studying in France who have a passion for performing patriotic
songs, Hop Ca Que Huong. The group was established in 2009 and conducted by
Nguyen Ngan Ha.
The concert
will open with “Linh Giac” by the late Vietnamese-French contemporary
classical music composer Nguyen Thien Dao. He is named in France’s famous Le
petit Larousse and Le Petit Robert dictionaries, and had received numerous
noble titles granted by France and Vietnam. He was honored with the
Resistance War Order, third-class, of the Vietnamese State in recognition of
his contributions to the struggle for national liberation.
The show
will also present music lovers Bach’s “Magnificat”. It is among the most popular
vocal works of Bach. The twelve-movement work will be performed by artists of
HCM City Ballet Symphony Orchestra and Opera (HBSO).
Violinist
Pham Vinh, with the HBSO Symphony Orchestra will perform Mendelssohn’s Violin
Concerto in E minor, one of the most important and demanding works composed
in the genre.
