In its promotional
campaign “Buy one get one free”, the company said: “We will offer free drinks
to women who measure at least 1.65m (5ft6 inches) to support a government
campaign to increase the average national height for Vietnamese women.”
The campaign was
supposed to run from December 12, 2012 to January 12, 2013.
But immediately
after being published on the company’s Facebook fan page, the campaign has
received a lot of negative comments with the majority saying it is offensive
to Vietnamese women.

another netizen, commented: “Long-legged girl campaigns can't lure any one
in. You guys need an ads agency before it's too late!!!"
“There are a lot
of factors affecting height growth and a major factor is genetics. So, how
does the company’s promotional campaign help increase Vietnamese national
average height?” a Facebook user raised a question.
“I think instead of running the campaign, it will be
successful if the company sets up a fund to offer free milk to poor
children,” he added.
The public criticism has prompted the company to cancel the said promotion program as of December 10. On its facebook page, the company wrote: “Thanks for your feedback. Our initial idea might be misleading. However, as we have received many negative comments, we will temporarily cancel the promotion. Please accept our sincere apologies.”
