Police in Ho Chi Minh City said they have identified the foreign man who was found dead on February 25 after apparently falling off the roof of a hotel in the city downtown.
American tourist Jason Henry Fetz, born in 1978, entered Vietnam on February 23 and stayed at Paragon Hotel on Thi Sach Street, a police source told Thanh Nien.
On February 25, an employee of a nearby hotel heard a loud sound and found his body in an alley in the vicinity.
Witnesses said they saw the man climbing out from a hotel’s balcony on the eighth floor.
It appeared that he jumped off from the building, they said.
Subsequent investigation found that Fetz went to the top of Paragon Hotel and then jumped to the roof of the adjacent Luxury Hotel.
From there, he allegedly attempted to climb to another hotel, but fell off.
The police source said investigators are still unsure about his motivation.
The source also said Fetz’s relatives have arrived in Vietnam.
It’s unclear if his body will be brought home or cremated first before repatriation.
