Vietnam encourages Japanese inflow into agro-forestry-fisheries Vietnam highly encourages Japanese investment inflow into agro-forestry-fisheries, President Truong Tan Sang told Governor of Japanese prefecture Wakayama, Yoshinobu Nisaka, during a reception in Hanoi on March 11. He suggested the prefecture’s authorities communicate regularly with and support Vietnamese localities in increasing the added value of farm produce. Speaking highly of Wakayama’s proposals on technological application, human resource development, produce trading and processing services, the leader expressed his belief that more widely utilising Japan ’s expertise in the field would be helpful to Vietnamese farming sector. Nisaka mentioned the prefecture’s strong track record in planting fruits and vegetables and rearing tuna fish, pledging full support in linking Japanese firms with Vietnamese provinces, including access to technology and value chain improvements in production, harvest and distribution. He also highlighted trade and tourism promotion, human resource training and opening Japanese farm produce processing plants in Vietnam.-VNA Deputy PM calls on Japanese firms to boost investment in Vietnam    The Vietnamese Government encourages Japanese businesses to make more investment in animal and crop husbandry, processing agro-forestry-fishery products, and post-harvest preservation, said Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai. At a reception for Governor of Japanese Wakayama prefecture Yoshinobu Nisaka in Hanoi on March 11, the Deputy Prime Minister spoke highly of the expanding cooperation between the Japanese prefecture and the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and several Vietnamese provinces over the past time. He asked the Japanese prefecture to send experts to help Vietnam with fishing, preserving and processing high-quality aquatic products. Governor Yoshinobu said his prefecture is strong in agriculture and seafood development, adding that his ongoing visit to Vietnam is to discuss cooperation opportunities in the fields with central and northern provinces of Nghe An, Quang Ninh, Khanh Hoa and Binh Dinh. He expressed his hope that the Vietnamese Government will create all possible conditions for the two sides to reach new cooperation deals in agriculture, tourism, and trade, citing as example the import of agricultural material from Vietnam and the transfer of processing technology and production models.
