As Pham Huong, the Vietnamese representative at the 2015 Miss Universe, appears to be the biggest fan favorite in Vietnam’s history of sending its beauties to pageants around the world, take a closer look at the woman who steals millions of hearts inside and outside her country.
Huong, who joined 80 beauties around the world in the preliminary show in Las Vegas on Thursday, was voted No.1 on the Official Hot Picks released on December 14 by Missosology, the leading beauty pageant website that covers and analyzes the world’s four biggest beauty contests.
“Huong Pham is a consistent favorite. Everybody is talking about her and everybody is putting her in their list,” the website said.
“No doubt she is the best from Asia and the best from Vietnam to ever compete at Miss Universe.”
According to Missosology, fans even called the 24-year-old woman “Honey Lee version 2,” referring to the South Korean third runner-up of the Miss Universe pageant in Mexico in 2007.
Huong was born as Pham Thi Huong on September 4, 1991 in the northern Vietnamese city of Hai Phong.
The Vietnamese beauty has a BA in marketing and now lives in Ho Chi Minh City, where she teaches at the Saigon College of Arts, Culture and Tourism.
Huong used to study martial arts in high school, and was fit and healthy enough to become the first runner-up at the 2014 Miss World Sport, a beauty pageant in the framework of the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.
In October 2015, Huong was crowned Miss Universe Vietnam in the finale taking place in the south-central city of Nha Trang.
Huong won the Vietnamese pageant with vital statistics of 78 – 63 – 93, but has since improved them to 80 – 59 – 90 to prepare for the 2015 Miss Universe.
Since Huong began her journey at the beauty contest, she has gradually won more hearts not only from Vietnam but also from around the world, with her gorgeous body and broad and dazzling smile.
The young Vietnamese woman, who now has nearly 338,000 followers on Facebook, is also lauded for her friendliness and confidence.
Videos shared by the woman on her Facebook show Huong easily communicating with other contestants, and she nailed an interview in English on the sidelines of the competition on Wednesday.

Huong has therefore emerged as the most confident contender Vietnam has ever had at an international beauty pageant.
She is particularly favored by Inès Ligron, a French fashion and beauty expert best known for working with celebrities and the creator of Miss Universe Japan, who has more than once mentioned the Vietnamese beauty on her Facebook.
Ligron was effusive in her praise for Huong in an interview with a Vietnamese newswire, in which she forecast that the contenders from Vietnam, Colombia and the U.S. will advance into the top three in Las Vegas.
The French beauty expert also expressed her big love for Huong in many Facebook statuses partly written in Vietnamese.
In one such post, Ligron apparently said Huong is beautiful from heart to soul.
The Miss Universe results will be announced in the finale that kicks off at 8:00 pm on December 20 at Planet Hollywood Theater in Las Vegas.
This year’s Miss Universe has attracted over 80 contestants from countries around the world, including the UK, Japan, South Korea, Brazil, India, Australia, France, Singapore, and Canada.
The winner will be responsible for raising global awareness of HIV/AIDS through numerous worldwide humanitarian activities.
