Traffic violations
increase during Tet
Lax policing during the lunar new year holidays has seen traffic
violations rocket.
It is common to see people travelling by motorbike without helmets
or carrying too many passengers, including in the capital, Hanoi. Many are
blatantly ignoring traffic lights or driving the wrong way down streets.
According to the National Traffic Safety
Committee, between February 7 and 9, inclusive of the last day of the lunar
year to the second day of the Tet, as many as 104 traffic accidents occurred
nationwide, killing 64 people and injuring an additional 98.
