Ship gets stuck under Hải Dương Bridge
HẢI DƯƠNG - Authorities in the northern Hải Dương
Province are urgently looking for ways to rescue a ship that is stuck under
the An Thái Bridge.
The HP3016
ship, with capacity of 3,000 tonnes, was travelling on the An Thái River from
Hải Dương Province to Hải Phòng Province, when it hit An Thái Bridge and got
stuck yesterday.
No loss of
human life was reported, but the crash caused a girder of the bridge to
crack, affecting traffic near the site and putting the bridge at risk of
collapsing.
The police
had to regulate transport on roads and waterways near the area, and banned
people and vehicles from using the bridge.
Deputy Chief
of Office of Hải Dương Province’s Traffic Safety Department Vũ Đức Hạnh said the authorities were trying
to protect the site while finding ways to remove the ship and to repair the
crack. Detailed solutions will be given after the full damage is reported.
The An Thái
Bridge spans the An Thái River, connecting National Highway 5 in Kim Thành
District to Kinh Môn District. It is a key road connecting Hải Dương and
Quảng Ninh provinces.
The An Thái
River is also an important waterway in Hải Dương Province. - VNS,
