Stunning lotus season in southern
Vietnam
Lotuses blossom at the Thap Muoi lotus field at Cao Lanh
southern city.
150km from Ho Chi Minh City,
the Thap Muoi lotus field at Cao Lanh, the capital of Dong Thap Province, has
become the destination of choice for many visitors looking to enjoy the
beauty of southern Vietnam.
Between
the end of March and the beginning of April, lotuses at Thap Muoi District’s
My Hoa Commune begin to reveal their most brilliant beauty.
Visitors
are carried on a float to the nearly-20ha field to see Vietnam’s national
flower in full bloom.
Tickets
to the field cost between VND10,000 (US$0.45) and VND20,000 (US$0.89), and
visitors can also borrow traditional costumes like ao dai, ao ba ba and non
la (conical leaf hat) to pose for photos.
Enjoying
local specialties like grilled blotched snakehead fish, freshwater crab
hotpot, and rice wrapped in lotus leaf, in the middle of the lotus field,
deliver tourists a unique experience, and add to the locations intrigue.
