Vietnam pledges to work for ASEAN Political-Security Blueprint 2025


Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung has affirmed Vietnam's commitment to closely work with ASEAN countries to implement the ASEAN Political-Security Blueprint 2025.

ASEAN’s Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM), ASEAN-China, Japan, ROK (10+3) SOM, the East Asia Summit (EAS) SOM were held in Luang Prabang, Laos on May 6-7.
The Vietnamese delegation led by Deputy Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung attended all meetings. At the ASEAN SOM, member countries pledged to practically implement the ASEAN Community Vision 2025 to realize the goal of comprehensive connectivity towards the people.
"Vietnam has committed to closely work with ASEAN countries to implement the ASEAN Political-Security Blueprint 2025, enhance ASEAN unity in regional strategic issues and ASEAN external relations, and contribute to ASEAN-led forums," Trung said.
At the ASEAN+3 SOM countries underlined the importance of cooperation to boost regional connectivity towards the long-term goal of an East Asia Community. 
Deputy Minister Le Hoai Trung informed the meeting of cooperative achievements between ASEAN and its partners and suggested to enhancing cooperation in dealing with terrorism,  natural disaster, climate change, food and energy security, and aviation and navigation safety. 
EAS SOM confirmed that EAS is a forum for world leaders to discuss strategic issues and improve cooperation in prioritized sectors such as energy, education, health, the environment, and finance.  
For complicated developments in the East Sea, countries have expressed concerns of dangers to regional peace and stability and called on involved parties to peacefully resolve disputes, not to militarize and threaten to use weapons, comply with international including the 1982 UNCLOS, international legal and diplomatic procedures, the Declaration of the Conduct of Party (DOC) in the East Sea, and heading to the formation of the Code of Conduct of Party (COC) in the East Sea.
