US missile frigate to visit Da Nang VietNamNet Bridge - From April 21 to 25, a missile frigate and a salvage vessel of the U.S. Navy will be docked at the Port of Da Nang and have many exchanges activities with the Vietnam Navy.   The U.S. Navy’s destroyers have been to Da Nang many times. In picture: The command ship USS Blue Ridge (LLC-19) at the Tien Sa Port on 23/04/2012.  On April 15, the U.S. Consulate General in Vietnam released an announcement on the visit of the missile destroyer USS Chung-Hoon and the salvage ship USNS Salvor of the U.S. Navy to the central city of Da Nang, to have exchange operations with the Vietnam Navy from April 21 to 25. In five days, the two navies will exchange expertise in health, humanitarian assistance, disaster relief, diving training, rescue and underwater medicine, ship sightseeing, sports exchanges, and music performance of the U.S. Navy’s 7th Fleet. The USS Chung-Hoon (DDG-93) is a member of the Pacific Fleet, the Arleigh Burke class with control system equipped with sea-based Aegis guided missile. The vessel was launched in January 2002, with a tonnage of 9,200 tons and it has involved in medical rescue, maritime exercise, etc. On July 15, 2011, the USS Chung-Hoon, USS.Preble and and USNS Safeguard  ships of the U.S. Navy arrived at Da Nang’s Tien Sa Port and had exchange activities with the Vietnam Navy on the occasion of the 16th anniversary of the US-Vietnam diplomatic ties.
