British tourist dies after falling in Ha Long Bay seawater

Ha Long Bay, a two-time UNESCO World Heritage Site, in northern Quang Ninh province

A British tourist drowned after falling into sea water of Ha Long Bay located in northern Vietnam’s Quang Ninh province on Thursday.
The dead case was confirmed on Saturday by Pham Thuy Duong, head of the bay's management board.
Duong said 53-year-old Wright David Denning fell into the water near Ti Top seaside resort on Thursday afternoon after his feet suddenly slipped.
The accident occurred as Wright together with his friends, including four British nationals, two Germans, and one Danish was touring Ha Long Bay on board a cruiser number QN 3006 that belongs to Hai Phong Ltd. Company.
After being informed of the mishap, local rescuers rushed to the accident scene but it was too late to save the British man then.
The group of foreigners bought the tour from Viettour travel agent located in Hanoi’s Hoan Kiem district.
The victim’s body is now being preserved at Bai Chay hospital while waiting to be handed over to the British Embassy and to his family later.
