Politics:
-- Vietnam Fatherland Front has received 8 million ideas contributing for the modification of the 1992 Constitution of Vietnam.
Society:
-- Locals in the central region of Vietnam have complained about troubles caused by hydroelectricity power plants in the area. The plants let out abundant volume of water in the rainy season causing floods and accumulate water in the dry season, causing drought.
--  Three Vietnamese workers on a Taiwanese fishing ship decided to flee away the ship by jumping into the Chilean Sea to avoid abuses they had suffered.
-- Ho  Chi Minh City authorities have began testing the quality of water in the Nhieu Loc – Tau Hu Canal running through central districts in the city to prepare for releasing fish into the river. Years before, the canal was seriously contaminated with waste.
-- Ho Chi Minh City will offer 3,000 – 4,000 favored houses for sales, lease, and rent in 2013, said the city’s construction department director Tran Trong Tuan.
Business:
-- The Ministry of Industry and Trade announced at a meeting on April 01 that the price of electricity will remain unchanged in April.
-- 22,000 hectares of rice land of private farmers in the Mekong Delta Province of Dong Thap, accounting for 10 percent of the total area of the province, have been cultivated for the new season of Summer – Autumn under contracts with local enterprises.
-- Vietnam export (excluding to the Japanese market) is forecast to increase 15 percent a year by 2020, according to HSBC Bank Vietnam. China will surpass the US to become the largest market of Vietnam export. Japan and the US will remain in the top three of Vietnam export by 2030.
-- The Ministry of Industry and Trade has agreed to export 200,000 tons of sugar from April to June this year. Local sugar enterprises have a stock of 500,000 tons.
-- Ph.D Le Tham Duong, head of the Business Administration Faculty of the HCMC Banking University, said that Vietnam should only use the support package of VND30 trillion (over US$1.4 billion) for real estate market to assist individuals to buy houses, not to assist real estate firms.
Lifestyle:
-- The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has decided to extend the deadline till October 31 for individuals to nominate themselves for tourism ambassador.
-- Vietnam will organize the national festival of Hung King, or the national anniversary of the death of Hung King – founder of the nation, on seven days from April 13-19 in the northern province of Phu Tho.
