Vietnam, Russia ink security cooperation plan

A plan for security cooperation between Vietnam and Russia has been signed by Vietnamese Minister of Public Security General Tran Dai Quang and Director of the Russian Federal Security Service (RFSS), General Bortnikov A.V.

The plan was signed yesterday, April 2, when General Bortnikov led a high-ranking Russian delegation on a 3-day visit to Vietnam at the invitation of Minister Quang.

At the talk held in Hanoi, Minister Quang highly appreciated the delegation’s visit and said it would further boost the friendship and cooperation between the two countries’ governments and people, as well as between RFSS and Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security.

The minister highly valued the achievements gained by Russia in the past years and thanked the Russian government and people for their valuable support to Vietnam in its national construction and defense.

For his part, General Bortnikov thanked Minister Quang for the intimate and warm welcome given to his delegation and expressed his appreciation at the outcomes gained by the government, people and Ministry of Public Security in the past years.

The two leaders also agreed on measures to strengthen bilateral cooperation to protect national security of each country and contribute to keeping peace and security in the region and the world.

The same day General Bortnikov handed Minister Quang the “For Fighting Solidarity” Medal.

RFSS is a federal executive body with the authority to implement government policy in the national security of the Russian Federation, counterterrorism, the protection and defense of the state border of the Russian Federation, the protection of internal sea waters, the territorial sea, the exclusive economic zone, the continental shelf and natural resources.
