European literature days in Hanoi QĐND  PANO - Nine European countries will present their literature during European Literature Days on May 17th and 18th in the Goethe-Institute Hanoi and L’Espace. The days, organized by the European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC) and Embassies, will introduce books from Denmark, France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Wallonia (Belgium) and Poland, which have recently been published in Vietnamese language. Classic or contemporary novels and short stories, books for young readers and comics for all ages with lots of discoveries await book lovers, both young and old. As part of the days, there will be exchanges with writers including Evie Wyld, the award winner of this year’s “Best of young British Novelists” and Spanish writer/photographer Ruben Abella. Notably, the Goethe-Institute Hanoi will host a Franz Kafka theme night, presenting two new publications. Besides, Wallonia, the French speaking part of Belgium, will present a theatrical adaptation of a classic author’s work, performed by students of the Hanoi University. Like last year, a focus will be put on books for children and young readers. Denmark introduces the Luc Buc stories for kids and their parents by writer Sally Altschuler and illustrator Tove Krebs Lange, Switzerland presents the popular story of their hero “Wilhelm Tell” in a fresh way. Poland introduces the teenager novel “Miss Nobody” and France will present not only the classic “The Little Prince“, but also a series of non-fiction books for young readers about such essential topics as the origins of mankind and of the universe, about religion, philosophy and non-violence. The comprehensive program of presentations, round table discussions and activities for children will be supplemented by publishers' book stalls at the Goethe-Institute, where books can be purchased at discount prices.
