 Activities to celebrate Capital Liberation Day

Hanoi plans to organise a wide range of cultural, sports and tourism activities to commemorate the 59 th anniversary of the city’s liberation (October 10, 1954-October 10, 2013).

The highlight on this occasion will be art performances shown at big outdoor stages around the city on October 9-10, where visitors will have the chance to enjoy Vietnamese traditional music and dances, circus and comedies.

Also during the two days, a traditional craft village tourism festival will be held at Quan Ngua stadium, featuring traditional handicrafts and cuisine of Hanoi and the Red River Delta provinces.

At the same time, a series of exhibitions are scheduled to take place in the capital city.

The Thang Long Heritage Preservation Centre will coordinate with the municipal Department of External Affairs and France ’s Toulouse Natural History Museum to organise an exhibition on the theme of “water” from October 4, 2013 to February 28, 2014 .

An exhibition highlighting Thang Long Imperial Citadel and Ho Dynasty Citadel, Vietnam’s two world cultural heritage sites, will get underway on October 10.

Maps and documents affirming Vietnam’s sovereignty over Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos will be displayed at another exhibition titled “Vietnam’s Hoang Sa and Truong Sa – Historical Evidence”.

A concert celebrating the 40th anniversary of Vietnam-France diplomatic ties will also take place on this occasion.-VNA
