Mystery shrouds remains of 24 unearthed in Khanh Hoa mass grave  Mystery surrounds the identities of 24 people so far whose remains were found in a mass grave by local residents digging in Khanh Hoa Province’s Cam Ranh City.  Remains of 24 people unearthed in mass grave Evidence of the mass grave, which appears as excavation continues to be 10m long, 8m wide and 2m deep was found December 27 in the garden of Nguyen Van Xe’s family in Tra Long 2 Street of Cam Ranh City. Xe said his parents were from the central province of Phu Yen and they claimed the land and settle in Cam Ranh in 1966. He was unaware of any incident in the village and its environs that might explain the mass grave. Skeletal remains were found last December when the Xe family began building a bio-gas cell. The first remains were found underneath a stone that weighed about 200kg. “The remains are of different shapes and sizes,” Xe said. He said there was a lot of oxidised metal among the bones. Two sets of remains were in what appeared to be iron stocks, while evidence of iron rust could be seen on wrist and ankle bones. Evidence of iron restraints found among remains “The lying positions of remains are really diverse, ranging from on one’s side to prostrate and curled up,” Xe said. Dang Si, former vice chairman of Ba Ngoi Ward People’s Committee, said, “We have never heard any stories from old people in the village talking about any related incidents.” Tran Anh Dung, vice chairman of Cam Ranh municipal government said , “I’ve directly come to see the grave and we’ve yet to find any evidences proving that the remains belong to soldiers.
