Vietnamese police have arrested a Chinese national who was wanted by Interpol for allegedly heading a gang that hacked into many people's credit cards to steal over 30 million yuan (US$4.89 million).
Zhu Zhendong, 34, was living in an apartment in Ho Chi Minh City from where he was taken in last week, the Ministry of Public Security police said.
He fled China in May last year after police smashed his operations and arrested 34 accomplices.
Zhu and his gang allegedly stole credit card details of many people, including South Koreans, to steal money. He then changed the money into digital money used in online games, before selling the digital one for real money, according to the Chinese police.
The Vietnamese police are now investigating his activities in Vietnam before handing him over to China.
