The first images of John Kerry in Hanoi


The first activity of John Kerry when he returned to Vietnam the second time as the US Secretary of State is a meeting with President Truong Tan Sang this morning.

Welcoming the US Secretary of State at the Presidential Palace in Hanoi, President Truong Tan Sang thanked Mr. Kerry for his efforts to the normalization and development of bilateral ties between Vietnam-US since he served as senator.
Leaving the Presidential Palace, Kerry attended a workshop on 20 years of Vietnam-US cooperation, held by the US Embassy and the US International Development Agency (USAID) at the Hanoi Daewoo Hotel, where he delivered a speech on the theme "USA - Vietnam: Towards the Future".
After the workshop, he participated in the online talks about the Vietnam-US relations, his visit to Vietnam this time and the establishment of the Fulbright University in Vietnam.
Last night upon arriving in Hanoi, Mr. Kerry wrote on Twitter: "Arrived in Hanoi. US-Vietnam relationship has grown tremendously. Honored to lead on our diplomatic and economic ties for decades."
