Rehearsals for National Day parade take place
        
      Nearly 30,000 people have been involved in rehearsals for a massive parade to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19) and National Day (September 2).
Participants include representatives from the armed forces as well as war veterans, workers, farmers, businesspeople, youth, women and ethnic minority people.
The parade will start from 7am on September 2 at Ba Dinh Square and travel along Nguyen Thai Hoc, Kim Ma and Lieu Giai, with the other route running from Nguyen Thai Hoc, Hang Khay to Trang Tien and the Opera House in Hanoi.

The parade marks the August Revolution and the birth of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam in 1945.

During a meeting held yesterday on the event, Hanoi Police said that they will block 38 streets to ensure traffic safety on the day.
"There will be around 35,000 participants at Ba Dinh Square on September 2," Dao Vinh Thang, head of the Hanoi Traffic Police told the meeting. "Vehicles will be banned on 38 surrounding streets from 4pm to 12am on August 29 and from 9pm on September 1 to 12pm on September 2.
Prior to the march, a 21-gun salute will be fired from the Thang Long Citadel.
On September 1, leaders from the party, state, Vietnam Fatherland Front and Hanoi will pay tribute at the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and to dead soldiers at their monument in the capital.
A concert will be held following the parade and another performance will take place on the evening of September 2. Firework displays will be held at Hoan Kiem Lake, Thong Nhat Park, Van Quan Lake, My Dinh Stadium, and West Lake.
