Hanoi’s Noi Bai International Airport has imposed ceiling prices on several food products on sale at its terminal in a bid to protect passengers from rip-offs.
The price caps will be applied for food services in three areas at the terminal: the public area, the domestic isolation area, and the international isolation area.
Specifically, a bottle of pure water should not be sold at more than VND15,000 in the public area. The normal cost for this product used to be VND18,000 a bottle. Similarly, the respective ceiling prices for canned beverages, yogurt and tea, and coffee are VND25,000 a can, VND20,000 a box, and VND35,000 a cup.
As for fast food like pho and other Vietnamese rice noodles, the price cap is VND50,000 per serving. The instant noodle price is capped at VND20,000 a bowl.
At the domestic isolation area, all of the food products share these same ceiling prices, except for pure water, whose ceiling price is VND20,000 a bottle.
Meanwhile, in the international area the pure water price is capped at US$2 per 0.5 liter bottle. The ceiling prices for canned beverages, yogurt, coffee, and noodles are $2 a can, $3 a box, $3.5 a cup, and $3 a bowl, respectively.
The service fees at restaurants in the airport are also capped at 15 percent of the product prices.
Noi Bai has also opened three hotlines for passengers to contact authorities on issues related to food services.
These include the number for the terminal police (04.38843241), the Northern Airport Corp (01689 166 566), and the Northern Airport Authority (04.38840114).
