Leaders pay tribute
on National Day
HA NOI (VNS)- A delegation of Party, State, Government,
National Assembly and Viet Nam Fatherland Front leaders yesterday paid floral
tributes to President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum to mark Viet Nam's
National Day, which falls on Monday.
Among those
present at the function were General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet
Nam Nguyen Phu Trong, President Truong Tan Sang, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan
Dung, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung and President of the Viet
Nam Fatherland Front Central Committee Huynh Dam.
Also in attendance
were former Party General Secretaries Le Kha Phieu and Nong Duc Manh, former
President Tran Duc Luong and former NA Chairman Nguyen Van An, among others.
Later in the day,
the delegation laid a wreath at the Monument to Heroic Martyrs in Ha Noi.
On the same day,
delegations from the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National
Defence, the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and
the Ha Noi Party Committee and People's Committee paid their respects at the
mausoleum and laid wreaths at the Monument.

bring together ambassadors, diplomats and heads of international
organisations to celebrate
The PM said the
country's independence had strengthened during the past 68 years and
contributed to greater stability in the region.
He said
The country has
played an instrumental role in regional bodies including the East Asia Summit
(EAS), APEC, ASEM and the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF), he said.
The country has
also worked closely with other States to prevent conflict and resolve
disagreements. It has also played a crucial role in promoting economic
development, he said.
