Vietnam attends ADMM Retreat in Brunei                                    Vietnamese Defence Minister General Phung Quang Thanh has joined his counterparts from other Southeast Asian countries in the ASEAN Defence Ministers' Meeting (ADMM) Retreat, which focuses on regional security.   Delegates of the 7th ASEAN Defense Ministers' Meeting Retreat pose for a family photo in Seri Begawan, Brunei on August 28, 2013.- XINHUA/VNA Photo. During the retreat, which took place in Bandar Seri Begawan , Brunei on August 28, the ministers talked ways to boost cooperation, especially in defence, within ASEAN and between the grouping and its partner countries. They also reviewed the cooperation among regional countries as well as between the association with partners over the past year in prioritised fields such as humanitarian assistance, military medicine and peace-keeping operations, maritime security and counter-terrorism activities. The ASEAN defence leaders also discussed the preparation for the second ADMM Plus, slated for August 29. At the retreat, the Vietnamese delegation has shown its responsibility for cooperation mechanisms within the ASEAN framework. Through this regional multilateral defence forum, Vietnam continues to affirm its role and position in the ADMM Plus, contributing to ensuring peace, stability, security and development in the region and looking towards the establishment of an ASEAN Community by 2015. The ministers are scheduled to attend an unofficial meeting between ASEAN and the US. On the sideline of the event, Minister Thanh will also hold bilateral meetings with his counterparts from dialogue partners.
