The Party leader made the request at a ceremony to start the new school year at the academy in Ha Noi yesterday, Sept 9. Apart from serving the teaching of the academy - a national training centre for high-ranking officers - the research should also contribute to building the country's revolutionary military theory and perfecting the Party's guidelines and policies, he said. The Party leader highlighted the need to always pay due attention to national defence and security, saying the task requires even more vigilance in peacetime. He described this task, as well as the upholding of social order, as the key mission of the Party and State of Viet Nam, including the People's Army and the People's Police. Trong pointed out several fundamental tasks for the academy during the 2013-14 school year and beyond, including ceaselessly improving the quality of teaching by combining theory and practice. The academy was also urged to more thoroughly grasp and actively develop the viewpoints of Marxism-Leninism, traditional culture and lessons learnt from the country's history of defending national independence. The leader voiced his hope that the academy would utilise its strengths to expand international co-operation in training, lending a helping hand to Laos and Cambodia. The same day, Dinh The Huynh, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and head of its Commission for Popularisation and Education, attended a ceremony to mark the new school year at the Ha Noi-based Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and Public Administration. President Sang to visit Hungary, Denmark President Truong Tan Sang will visit Hungary from September 15-17 and then head to Denmark from September 18-20, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on September 9. The State-level visits will be made at the invitation of Hungarian President Ader Janos and Danish Queen Margrethe II. Viet Nam, Canada lift all-around co-operation The Vietnamese Party, State and people will always treasure and nurture comprehensive co-operation with Canada in the interests of the two peoples and for the sake of global peace, stability and development. Vietnam, Spain pledge to push up cooperation, friendship Leading officials of the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Spanish Parliament have pledged to do their best to unceasingly push up the cooperation and friendship between the two countries, and to intensify the exchange of experience in law-building and supervision activities. Vietnam, Laos foster Party inspection work Vietnam and Laos will continue boosting cooperation and experience exchanges, both theoretically and practically, in supervision and inspection of Party organisations and members. The agreement was reached during talks between Mai The Duong, member of the Vietnam Communist Party Central Committee and Standing Vice Chairman of the Committee’s Central Inspection Commission, and his Lao counterpart Thongsy Oantasy in Vientiane on September 9. At the meeting, the two sides briefed each other on their own countries and commissions’ current situation. Both host and guest expressed their delight at the achievements gained by the two sides over the past time, especially the close cooperation and effective implementation of the high-level agreements of the two Parties and States. They also voiced their pleasure at the cooperation programmes between the two commissions, including the increase of delegation exchanges, the sharing of the theoretical and practical issues, as well as experience in Party building, inspection and supervision, and personnel training. These achievements have contributed to consolidating and fostering the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, they said. Both sides also agreed to work together in combating peculation and corruption, practically forging more effective cooperation between the two commissions, as well as contributing to nurturing the special ties between the two neighbouring countries. Vietnam-Australia relations to continue developing The comprehensive partnership between Vietnam and Australia will continue to develop in the coming time after the political changes in Australia. Vietnamese Ambassador to Australia Hoang Vinh Thanh made the remark during a recent interview with Vietnam News Agency correspondents in Sydney whilst discussing prospects to further strengthen relations between the two countries after Australia’s general election on September 7. The ambassador stressed that in order to make the most of the cooperative potential between the two countries, Vietnam should enhance control and management to meet Australia’s standards for goods imported into the country, while improving the investment environment to attract more Australian investors. Vietnam-Australia trade and investment cooperation has developed strongly with two-way trade reaching 5 billion USD in 2012, Thanh noted. Australia is now Vietnam’s eighth largest trading partner and ranks 21 st among investors in Vietnam with a total investment of about 1.3 billion USD. VNN/VNS/VNA
