American man Kyo York, who is known in Vietnam for singing
Vietnamese songs very well, has recently conquered more local fans with his
latest video featuring him singing about southern Vietnam.
Titled “Que Bac Ba Phi” (Uncle Ba Phi’s Hometown), the video was
made during York’s
performing trip to the Mekong Delta provinces in June. The 6-minute music
video (MV) showcases the region’s beautiful landscapes and specialties as
well as capturing the moments York spent with local people against the
background music of the Vietnamese song sung by York.
Posted on YouTube on August 4, the MV has received nearly
3,000 views from users of the video sharing site.
Netizens commented York
not only on his fluent Vietnamese singing but also the love towards the
southern region he put into the video.
“Good job, Kyo! Thank you for the song, Vietnam loves
you very much. Listening to your song makes me love my country more,” Minh
Van commented on YouTube.
For his part, York said the
music video is a gift to people who love Vietnam and its people, culture
and beautiful landscapes.
“Vietnam
brings me interesting experiments on culture, cuisine, people and especially
music that I can never forget,” he shared. “Making this video reminds me of
the image of a foreigner who first came to Vietnam three years ago. Every
morning, he came to the market to buy foods and was helped by local sellers
since he didn’t know a Vietnamese word.”
“Que Bac Ba Phi” is the second music video of Kyo’s project to
showcase Vietnam’s
beauty via music videos. His first MV, titled “Hello Ha Long,” has received
163,000 views on YouTube.
“I make this small project to keep the beautiful memories and
images about Vietnam,”
he said. “I’m not a visitor to this country anymore, I’m now living in the
country with the love of people around me,” he added after revealing his plan
to make another MV on central Vietnam.
