Strong winds from the typhoon also blew off the roofs of 524 houses in the province and caused a fire in a grocery in Kien An district in the neighboring Hai Phong city, sending hundreds of people into panic, according to Tuoi Tre on-the-scene reporters. The committee said the typhoon weakened into a tropical pressure area the same day but it is still causing heavy rains in the north. Le Thanh Hai, deputy director of the National Hydro Meteorological Forecasting Center, told Tuoi Tre that the heavy rains are predicted to last until Aug 5. As of Aug 3 evening, 54 flights had been cancelled due to the impact of the storm in which the national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines cancelled 48 flights, Jetstar Pacific Airlines cancelled 2, and Vietjet Air cancelled 4. Vietnam Airlines will increase five more flights on August 4 to serve passengers.
