VN wants closer ties with Japan

HA NOI (VNS)- Viet Nam wishes to strengthen co-operation with Japan, focusing on ties between the localities of the two countries, in order to realise its strategic goal of becoming an industrialised country by 2020.
The statement was made by To Huy Rua, politburo member and head of the Party Central Committee's Commission for Organisation, at a reception in Ha Noi yesterday for visiting Governor of Japan's Saitama prefecture Ueda Kiyoshi.
 
Rua, who is also President of the Viet Nam-Japan Friendship Parliamentarians' Group, expressed his belief that the visit would help boost investment and economic co-operation between Viet Nam and Saitama prefecture, which boasts mature automotive and food processing industries.
For his part, Ueda Kiyoshi said he would do his utmost to promote co-operation between his prefecture and Vietnamese localities, including the central province of Thanh Hoa. - VNS
