Photo: Pham Duc Police in the central province of Nghe An on Thursday raided a major wood trading company on suspicion of evading VND120 billion (US$5.4 million) in taxes since 2011 and arrested one of its founders. Hoang Thi Oanh, 44, and her husband Cao Duc Tam, 47, were caught trying to burn documents with the help of some of their employees, police said. That same day police also caught their employees moving documents on a pickup truck and two motorbikes. Police said Tam, who was also the company's director, confessed to violations during his interrogation, while Oanh, the vice director, denied the accusations and was taken into custody. Initial information from police is that the company, which was founded in 2007 and soon became one of the major wood traders in Nghe An, bought wood from Laos for processing before exporting the products to China. Last year the province's tax authorities ordered the company to pay a total of VND419 million ($18,800) in back taxes and fines. By K.Hoan-P.Duc, Thanh Nien News
