Government provides information on Facebook To widely disseminate information about the government’s activities, the Government Portal has set up its page entitled "Government Information" on Facebook, the most popular social network in Vietnam.    The "Government Information" facebook page. Speaking at a press conference to introduce the Government’s latest resolution 36a on e-Government, the General Director of the Government Portal Vi Quang Dao said that this Facebook page was launched at the request of Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on widely diffusing information about the government’s operation on the Internet. Dao said the Facebook was launched this October, run by the Government Portal on a trial basis. He said the information posted on this page includes mostly press releases, instructions by the Prime Minister and the Deputy Prime Ministers, as well as information about a number of government activities. So far, such information has been sent to the local media only. Dao said through the Facebook page, the people will be able to have access to these documents fully. Regarding the communication plan on Facebook, the Government Portal has been working with representatives of Facebook in Vietnam to learn about applications on this social network to prepare a specific cooperation plan with Facebook.
