Bulgaria urged to help Vietnam penetrate EU market

State President Truong Tan Sang has asked Bulgaria to support and create the best possible conditions for Vietnam to penetrate the EU market.

At a reception for Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Simeon Diankov in Hanoi on October 19, President Sang highlighted the time-honoured relationship between the two countries, citing it as a firm foundation for expanding cooperation in the future.

He praised the joint efforts in conducting regular exchanges of high-level delegations as well as Bulgaria’s cooperative initiative on goods processing. Sang urged the two sides to make thorough preparations for the Bulgarian President’s visit to Vietnam next year, ensuring its great success.
Sang said he hopes the visit will help promote bilateral cooperation in various fields, especially in economics and trade.
He thanked Bulgaria for supporting Vietnam at international forums and in negotiations on the Free Trade Area (FTA) Agreement with the EU. He also asked Bulgaria to officially recognise Vietnam as a country with a full market economy.
For his part, the Bulgarian Deputy PM briefed Sang on the outcome of his talks with select Vietnamese ministers. He said the talks aim to prepare documents that will be signed during the Bulgarian President’s visit to Vietnam.
Simeon Diankov said Bulgarian businesses are keen to exploit the Vietnamese market’s opportunities and place high hopes on the Bulgarian President’s upcoming visit.
