US naval vessels dock in Da Nang

PANO – Two US naval vessels named USS Chung-Hoon (DDG 93) and USNS Salvor of the US Western Pacific Logistics force commanded by Rear Admiral Thomas Carney arrived at Tien Sa seaport, Da Nang city on April 21st.
Representatives of the External Relations Department under the Defence Ministry, Military Zone 5, Command of Naval Zone 3, Command of the Municipal Border Guards and the Municipal People’s Committee were at the port to welcome and receive the crew.
The visit of the two US vessels lies within the 2013 cooperation programme between the Vietnamese and US navies.
Under the programme, forces of the two navies will focus on non-military activities, exchange expertise in controlling and maintaining equipment and vehicles; share information and experiences in medicine, humanitarian aid, natural disaster relief, diving training and underwater rescue and medical aid.
During the visit, the US delegation will invite local military and civilian officials to visit the vessels and enjoy music performances by US marines. 
They will also play sports with local naval troops, participate in public activities and go sightseeing in the city.
