Experts of the Institute of Geosciences and Mineral Resources and officials of Quang Ninh province have conducted a survey on the island No. 649 and the surrounding islands in Ha Long Bay after the island was reported of being eroded. Based on the field test, the experts said that the erosion of the No. 649 island in Halong Bay is completely a natural phenomenon, caused by tectonic movement in the bay. In addition, factors such as rain, storms, waves, wind and sea water corrosion are small agents that triggered the landslides. The institute will further analyze and report the results in detail as soon as possible.   Experts learn of the eroded area. The Island No. 649 is one of the 1,969 islands in Ha Long Bay. It is located in the fishing village of Cong Tau, between Center 3 and Center 4 of the Management Board of Ha Long Bay. The erosion was discovered during a survey on August 6.
