Police in Ho Chi Minh City are investigating the death of a 43-year-old British woman who was found lying dead, naked in her room in a hotel in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City on Thursday morning.

The woman was Jay Julia Anne, who had rented a room since January at the H.Y Hotel in Alley 14, Do Quang Dau Street in Pham Ngu Lao Ward, in an area that is usually called “Phố Tây” (Quarter of Foreigners) by locals.

At 7 am on August 8, residents in the hotel area smelt a foul odor and asked the hotel’s management to make an examination to locate the source of the stinking smell.

Hotel staffs conducted checks and finally forced open the door of Room 4 on the second floor, finding Anne lying dead, naked on her bed, with her body already in the stage of decomposition.

The death was reported to police, who immediately came to the scene for examination and investigation.

According to an initial examination, the woman’s body had no signs of impact from external force, police said.
At 1 pm the same day, the woman’s body was brought to a mortuary for a forensic autopsy.

The hotel’s management reported to police that Anne had not left her room for several days.

Police are continuing their investigation into the mysterious death.
