Nearly 2,000 hospitalised due to brawls at Tet


Up to nearly 2,000 people were hospitalised due to fighting nationwide on February 7-9, inclusive of the last day of the lunar year to the second day of the Tet.

Ten people died due to their injuries compared to four last Tet, according to the Ministry of Health.
The ministry also reported that during this four-day period, the number of people hospitalised due to traffic accidents reached 17,278, up 113% against last year, with 1,928 cases suffering from brain injuries. 80 deaths were attributed directly to road accidents.
Over 98 people were hospitalised by firecrackers, double the number of last Tet. However, no fatality has been reported to date. Quang Ngai Province topped the list nationwide with 17 victims.
On the occasion, hospitals nationwide also admitted nearly 1,971 people for food poisoning and alcohol poisoning.
