HA NOI (VNS) - President Truong Tan Sang visited Viet Nam National Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) staff in Ha Noi yesterday to express New Year’s best wishes in the lead-up to the country’s biggest holiday.
Sang praised PetroVietnam for its rapid expansion, especially in foreign markets, adding that over 50,000 oil and gas employees had worked their hardest in not only production and trading, but also in defence, security, diplomacy and social welfare.
He hoped PetroVietnam would become one of the biggest oil and gas groups in Southeast Asia during the 2011–2020 period.
The same day, permanent member of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Central Committee (CPVCC) Secretariat Le Hong Anh paid a New Year’s visit to Regiment 935 of Air Division 370 of the Air Defence and Air Force, stationed in southern Dong Nai province.
Secretary of the CPVCC and head of its Commission for Publicity and Training Dinh The Huynh extended New Year’s wishes to Infantry Division 301 of the Capital High Command, stationed in Hanoi’s outlying district of Ha Dong.
On Wednesday, Defence Minister General Phung Quang Thanh visited and extended his Lunar New Year greetings to General Vo Nguyen Giap.
On behalf of the Central Military Commission, Ministry of Defence and the whole army, Thanh briefed Giap on the implementation of military and defence tasks, as well as the building of a comprehensive and strong people’s army in 2012.
Thanh said that Giap was a great source of encouragement and pride and an example to the Vietnamese armed forces and people’s army.
He wished Giap good health and a Happy New Year. Giap expressed his joy at the army’s achievements and his hopes the army would continue to strive for suVietNamnews
