MPI seeks VND1 trillion
for Vung Ang Economic Zone
The Ministry
of Planning and Investment (MPI) will send a proposal to the government on
pouring an additional VND1 trillion (USD47.6 million) into the development of
Vung Ang Economic Zone (EZ) in the central
Vung Ang Economic Zone
At a recent meeting with Ha Tinh provincial
authorities, Bui Quang Vinh, minister of Planning and Investment, said that
the ministry will seek government approval for spending the remaining VND219
billion (USD10.4 million) out of the total VND819 billion (USD39 million) in
state budget funds allocated to the project.
Vinh also asked Ha Tinh to provide the MPI with
information about the distribution of VND600 billion (USD28.6 million) given
to Vung Ang EZ earlier, as well as the plan for the use of the remaining
VND219 billion which is expected to be poured into the economic zone.
To speed up the pace of important works for the EZ
during this years flood season, the MPI has proposed that the government
advance VND800 billion at the recommendation of Ha Tinh officials.
The minister also noted that the MPI has sought the
government’s instruction as to the allocation of the state budget for the
construction of a housing project for workers at Vung Ang EZ.
Vinh has sent a proposal to the government on the
capital allocation to support the communes’ socio-economic development.
