-- Vietnamese Deputy Defense Minister Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh and David Shear, U.S. Assistant Secretary of Defense for Asian and Pacific Security Affairs signed a memorandum of understanding regarding United Nations peacekeeping in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday.

-- An ambulance carrying four people burst into fire after it crashed into a motorcycle in the southern province of Ben Tre on Wednesday, killing the child patient on the vehicle and the motorcyclist.
-- A young man was arrested by police after he stopped an on-duty firefighting truck and swore at the firefighters on a street in the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak on Wednesday.
-- The SJC Tower project, which is situated at a prime location in downtown Ho Chi Minh City and is reportedly worth US$100 million, has come under scrutiny after its developer failed to start construction after receiving the investment license in 2004.

-- The northern Vietnamese province of Vinh Phuc has pulled the plug on a $200 million electronics plant developed by Foxconn as the Taiwanese firm failed to start construction as committed.
