Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hoi An, and Ha Long of Vietnam won TripAdvisor Travellers' Choice: Asia Destination Awards 2013 at a ceremony held in Singapore on June 18.
The four above sites enter the list of top 25 destinations in Asia in which Hanoi is ranked 14th, followed by Ho Chi Minh City (15th), Hoi An (17th), and Ha Long (25th).
The top 25 list was selected from 412 outstanding destinations across the globe based on millions of reviews and opinions from TripAdvisor users. Accordingly, the winners were determined based on the popularity of destinations.
Robin Ingle, Senior Vice President of TripAdvisor, told Vietnam News Agency (VNA) at the award ceremony that she was deeply impressed that Vietnam has four winners listed in the top 25.
Vietnam’s tourism industry is now appealing very broadly to global travellers and it is doing a phenomenal job,” she told the newspaper.

On its website, TripAdvisor wrote about Hanoi: “The charming Vietnamese capital has aged well, preserving the Old Quarter, monuments and colonial architecture, while making room for modern developments alongside. Hanoi may have shrugged off several former names, including Thang Long, or ascending dragon.”
The travel site descbires Ho Chi Minh City as “Vietnam's bustling largest city sets the cultural and economic pace for the country”, Hoi An as “the city on the central Vietnamese coast is a well-preserved example of the important Southeast Asian trading port it was from the 15th-19th centuries”, and Ha Long as “the place for tourists to visit with surprisingly beautiful limestone islets and caves.”
The top 10 includes Bangkok (Thailand), Tokyo (Japan), Bejing (China), Shanghai (China), Siem Reap (Cambodia), Chiang Mai (Thailand), Hong Kong, Singapore, Kyoto (Japan), and Male (Maldives)
