National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung has urged Vietnam and the Republic of Korea (RoK) to step up negotiations for a bilateral free trade agreement, thereby creating new momentum for robust and comprehensive economic development.

Paying a courtesy call to RoK President Park Geun-hye in Seoul on July 23, Chairman Hung informed his guest of the outcomes reached during talks with his counterpart Kang Chang-hee, saying that the two sides were unanimous on ways to tighten legislative ties between the two nations.

Vietnam treasures and continues to promote friendship, cooperation and its strategic partnership with the RoK for the sake of the two peoples and for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the Asia-Pacific region and the world, he said.

President Park Geun-hye made it clear that bilateral friendship and cooperation have flourished in all fields over the past 21 years, especially since the two nations lifted their ties to a strategic cooperative partnership level.

She suggested the two sides renew policies and mechanisms to make it easier for their firms to expand contact bases and investment, for each side’s interest.

The two leaders reached a consensus on further enhancing all-level visits and exchanges to build political trust.

On the same day, Chairman Hung visited Yongin City Hall . Meeting with President of the Yongin municipal Council Lee Woo-huyn, Chairman Hung said he hopes the city will continue sharing its experiences with Vietnamese localities and encourage its firms to do business and conduct science research with the Vietnamese side.
