 Emergency maneuver for terrorism threats at Vietnam airport

Vietnam’s Tan Son Nhat Airport was put under an emergency situation by a mass military maneuver to cope with terrorism threats Saturday morning.
Visitors and passengers at the site could witness gunfire, smoke, and blood at the international air terminal of the airport. When one of 15 terrorists were found hiding a gun by a security staff, other terrorists immediately opened fire and seriously injured three security men and other passengers.
The area was put under emergency situation. Passengers and aircrafts were ordered to evacuate from the site.
Soon later, around 1,000 army and police officers, fire fighting forces, along with specialized equipment arrived at the scene, crushed the attackers, and restored order and safety after nearly two hours.
This exact plan of the military maneuver, organized by Vietnam Airlines and Ho Chi Minh City steering committee of aviation emergency, is part of a master training plan to fight against terrorism threat. It had been held in different other crowded locations as Hanoi Post, My Dinh National Stadium, northern Quang Ninh Province, and other key areas.
The maneuver, held according to international aviation practices, had the participation of Ho Chi Minh City police force, HCMC fire fighting unit, HCMC High Command, two air divisions of Vietnam army, health staff, and representatives of 44 international air carriers.
Tan Son Nhat Airport receives tens of thousands of passengers and operates over 400 landings and takeoffs a day.
