Cambodian PM encourages local businesses to invest in his country HA NOI (VNS)- Visiting Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen has confirmed that his country will create more favourable conditions for Vietnamese investors and businesses. PM Hun Sen made the statement at a meeting with Vietnamese investors in Ha Noi yesterday, which also included Viet Nam's Deputy PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Cambodian Deputy PM cum Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Hor Nam Hong. Hun Sen praised Vietnamese businesses, adding that he would like them to intensify their operations in Cambodia and share Viet Nam's development experiences with Cambodians. President of the Association of Vietnamese Investors in Cambodia (AVIC) Tran Bac Ha said the association has performed well in its role in linking Viet Nam-Cambodia trade and investment through its support for businesses. Viet Nam has also paid attention to implementing social welfare programmes in Cambodia, with a total registered capital of US$35 million, focusing on education, healthcare and support for poor people. Earlier the same day, the Cambodian leader met 500 Vietnamese experts and volunteer soldiers who fought in battlefields in Cambodia at a gathering which also saw participation by Vietnamese Deputy PM and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh. Representing the Vietnamese experts and volunteer soldiers, Nguyen Van De recalled when he and his comrades fought alongside the Cambodian people and revolutionary armed forces against the Pol Pot genocide regime. PM Hun Sen also spoke highly about the development of the two countries' relations in recent years. The two countries are determined to increase their cooperation to new levels, with two-way trade turnover to reach $5 billion by 2015, he added. PM Hun Sen is on an official visit to Viet Nam, lasting from December 26-28, at the invitation of Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung. - VNS
