Hanoi police seizes over 50 tons unoriginal confectioneries Tons of oyster sauce and various confectioneries without clear origin were seized by the Market Management Board No.2 in Hanoi on December 26.  The Market Management Board No.2 and Environment and Economy Police raided on two shops in 229 and 231 Hong Ha Street in Hoan Kiem District. They detected and captured nearly one tons of oyster sauce without document and clear indication of origin. Only Chinese is on label of the product without sub-label in Vietnamese as per the regulation. Police continued at the same time to check two shops which sell confectionaries in Dong Xuan Market and they confiscated more than 300 kilogram of various candies and marmalade. All confectionaries are smuggled as shop owners failed to show any documents related to the origin and food safety certificate of the confectioneries. On the same day, Market Management Board in Hanoi along with Environment Police Department under the Ministry of Security announced the seizure of over 50 tons of various sweets, pastries and jams with unclear origin. These items are prepared for upcoming Tet festive season. The environment police team in the central province of Nghe An December 26 seized also seven bird cages, 400 kilogram of rotten animal organs and 400 kilogram of smoked legs of pork from a passenger coach. The coach driver, Le Van Lieu from the central province of Quang Ngai failed to show a quarantine certificate for the goods. He had no documents to prove their origin, either. He just said he had been hired by a trader in Hanoi to transport the goods to the South for consumption. The environment police in conjunction with the Animal Quarantine Station in Da Nang City in the Central caught a bus driven by Tran Cong Minh carrying 400 kilogram of animal organs that was rotten and stinking contained in foam containers.
